Klagenfurt un Wien hießen die wichtigen Stationen von Luca Pisaroni, dem bejubelten Figaro des heurigen Festspielsommers, am Beginn seiner Karriere: In der Landeshauptstadt Kärntens absolvierte er 2001 sein Operndebüt als Mozarts Figaro, und in Wien wurde er im selben Jahr mit der Eberhard-Wächter-Medaille als bester Nachwuchskünstler ausgezeichnet.

Guglielmo: Luca Pisaroni

Faced with an assignment like this, the temptation is to go cantering down memory lane - I plead guilty elsewhere in these pages - but it is a pleasure to hail an interpretation hot, as it were, off the stage: Pisaroni's trail-blazing Guglielmo at Glyndebourne this year. He has a beautifully dark, firm voice with a wide range of colour, sings words as if they mean something (being italian helps) and is a natural creature of the stage. But there was more to this performance than that.
