During this holiday season, Luca Pisaroni performs Beethoven’s celebratory Symphony No. 9 with the Gewandhausorchester and a sparkling roster of soloists. Performances take place December 29, 30, & 31 at the Gewandhaus, following with a performance at the Konzerthaus Dortmund on January 1. Pisaroni shares the stage with soprano Lucy Crowe, mezzo soprano Violeta Urmana, and tenor Klaus Florian Vogt. Andris Nelsons will lead the soloists, the Gewandhausorchester, MDR Rundfunkchor, and Gewandhauschor in this special evening.

An avid concert soloist, Pisaroni has sung the bass soloist in this utterly significant piece by Beethoven to much acclaim:

“The introduction of the “Ode to Joy” theme in the cellos and basses was so unison and quiet you could have believed a single hand was moving the flock of bows. Pisaroni’s opening bass solo was sublime: well focused, strong and well articulated. In fact, all four soloists were wonderfully present and made a beautiful showing, speaking clearly and beautifully to the back of the hall through a sea of brass, strings and listeners.” (Bachtrack)
