The Philadelphia Orchestra will rebroadcast a performance of Bach’s monumental St. Matthew’s Passion on April 10 via WRTI 90.1 and the Orchestra’s Listen On Demand virtual site. Performed for Easter in 2013 at Verizon Hall, the occasion marked the Orchestra’s first performance of the famous oratorio in nearly 30 years.

Luca Pisaroni sings the role of Jesus with an impressive roster of soloists, including soprano Malin Christensson, mezzo-soprano Karen Cargill, Andrew Staples as the Evangelist, and bass-baritone Andrew Foster-Williams. The Westminster Symphonic Choir and the American Boychoir joins The Philadelphia Orchestra, under the baton of Yannick Nezét-Séguin, in this vast two-part masterpiece, which recounts the last days of Christ, leading to his Crucifixion.
