On February 26, Luca Pisaroni showcases a different side of his artistry in an all-Schubert recital with longtime pianist Malcolm Martineau at the Pierre Boulez Saal in Berlin. Increasingly drawn to art song, Pisaroni and Mr. Martineau will perform a variety of Schubert’s lieder including Erlkönig, Drei Gesänge, and more. In a recital at Carnegie Hall, Pisaroni shared his admiration for Schubert and other prolific German composers in an all-German program. His performance of Schubert’s music garnered praise by The New York Times saying:

“He was excellent in Schubert’s “Der Atlas,” set to a Heine text about the primordial Titan. Again, Mr. Pisaroni jumped at the chance to embody a specific character and made the song sound as if it had been tailored to his own voice. He offered an urgent and haunting account of Schubert’s “Erlkönig,” creating different voices for each of the ballad’s characters with the dramatic instinct that marks Mr. Pisaroni as an opera singer first and foremost.”
