Don Giovanni in Mozart’s hometown
Luca Pisaroni returns to the Salzburg Festival this summer, to sing the role of Leporello in a new production of Mozart’s masterpiece, Don Giovanni.
Mr. Pisaroni is joined by an international cast, including Ildebrando D’Arcangelo in the title role, Anett Fritsch as Donna Elvira, and Lenneke Ruiten as Donna Anna. Sven-Eric Bechtolf directs the production, and Maestro Christoph Eschenbach leads the Vienna Philharmonic.
Performances take place July 27 & 30, and August 3, 6, 12, 15, & 18, with a live Servus TV broadcast on August 3.
Mr. Pisaroni is also featured on a 2012 Deutsche Grammophon recording of Don Giovanni, with renowned collaborators including Joyce DiDonato, Rolando Villazón, Diana Damrau, and Ildebrando D’Arcangelo as Don Giovanni. The Mahler Chamber Orchestra, led by Yannick Nézet-Séguin brings Mozart’s music to life, on this album collaboration with the Festspielhaus Baden-Baden (purchase here).
