Accompanied by venerated pianist Malcolm Martineau, Luca Pisaroni presents all-Schubert recitals at two of Germany’s premiere venues this month. On October 13 the duo performs at the Philharmonie Essen, followed by a recital at the newly constructed Pierre Boulez Saal on October 16. The masterfully curated programme highlights songs written by Schubert in the later phase of his career, a combination of effervescent miniatures and evocative, romantic ballads. Please note that ticket availability is limited for both engagements.

“In his marvellous account [of Erlkönig], Mr Pisaroni imparted horror by contrasting the urgency in the dialogue with a detached gravitas in the narrator’s voice. The child’s death at the hand of the elf king seemed inevitable from the first bars, and all the more gruesome. The low music of the philosophical “Grenzen der Menscheit” (Mankind’s Limits) held no fears for him: he dispatched its demanding, long lines smoothly and securely.” (Bachtrack)
